Mosque Silhouette Painting
Come to Thee was made a long long time back, probably one of my first organised paintings with proper materials and techniques. I do not know its dimensions and dont want to either.
This perhaps is the only painting that involved me right from the beginning. From cutting out the wooden board, fixing and preparing the canvas, to painting it in best oils and hanging it on the wall. Everything in one evening, in one go – in a frenzy. What a soul lifting experience it was.
Its a beautiful memoir that hangs on my walls that keeps reminding me to the trials and tribulations that one goes through in life.
Come to Thee was made in the era when my easel was a washing machine that had the right bends and grooves to hold this bespoke canvas steady. Those were the lovely days.
It now hangs on the walls not only because it goes well with the sights and sounds that surround my home but because it keeps reminding me of the lovely life that went by… which only gets better with every passing day.
Thanks for responding Geoff, and thank you Ish for letting me know. I will write to Geoff and share my Pastel Painting of this intestting place with him.
Peace to you all.
Mystic Poet, I saw your comment:
“I truly love this one…would you believe it…that many moons ago, I did a Mosque in Pastels ( very ancient one in Fujairah ).”
I would love to see your pastel drawing of Al Bidyah Mosque. I was there again only this week and I wrote this new update:

Yeah JustAroundMe, I was a novice then. And also did not have the resources to splurge on hobbies in those days. But lessons that you learn that way are the best.
Now when I buy readymade canvas, I still long for the touch and feel of working with wood and seeing it come to life with colors. Im glad you like the painting.
The picture resonates peace ..and you did everything from the scratch, you did not buy the canvas from store..man you are one amazing woman…great work…
this is a lovely painting-I can’t paint to save my life.
See this…it was my fav. place to visit.

Yes, it is beautiful place. Very ancient and peaceful. Yet stirring. Thanks for sharing this. Hope I get to see your painting someday, in person. Send me the pix if you can.
Hugs!
I truly love this one…would you believe it…that many moons ago, I did a Mosque in Pastels ( very ancient one in Fujairah ) and had a wonderful vision ….hopefully will share it with you one day!
I was so happy with it, that I decided to exhibit it in Dubai in one of the art exhibitons…of course my mom never wants me to sell anything…so I still have it.
