How I claimed my blog on Technorati

What am I doing on Technorati?
I am still asking that question to myself while creating a new user account, claiming my blog and trying to understand all about it. For starters, it is supposed to be a good blog search engine that helps you increase your blog visibility - so I am trying it out – as a personal experiment.

Registration on Technorati
Registration was a simple process and it took less than a minute to get signed up. The next hitch was a concept called “claim your blog”. I was startled because I never heard that term and what it implies. My blog is mine so what is there to claim? Guess it needs a grammatical or semantic correction there :-)

Claim your Blog on Technorati
Phew! Its like Greek and Latin.  Technorati asks me to submit my blog URL. Having done that, it generates a code and asks me to paste it somewhere on the blog. Now here is the big problem – for a newbie like me. Where do I paste it? It tells me to create a new post, copy that code, publish it, and delete it after the blog is claimed by Technorati. Quite a deal, hugh! Then I search for ways to ‘claim your blog on technorati’ and heaps of googled pages take me nowhere. Fishy!

I chose to go the widget way (as per some intelligent web guys). I copied the code on the text widget and save it. The code appears on my site in the sidebars for now. Lets wait and watch to see how long it takes for Mr.Technorati to grace my blog and claim it (as its own? No way!).

I am waiting for Technorati to declare that it has claimed my blog. No sign yet……

I give up! I go back to Technorati to check what the problem is. So then I take the conventional route and create a blank post, paste the code and save it. It does appear on my side and makes it look stupid. But lo behhold! my blog was claimed in 5 minutes flat.

My blog has been claimed by Technorati.

Deleted that junk code post, pronto!
